I live outside the US/UK! Can Poem/1 start shipping to my country?
You’ll have noticed that the rewards are restricted to US/UK. The reason for this is to keep fulfilment as simple as possible. I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew.
However, I would love to open up to more countries if I can figure out the details. To help me understand demand, please add your name + country to the following “I’m interested” form.
Visit this web address to open the form:

(The Kickstarter FAQ system does not allow hyperlinks so you’ll have to type it in, sorry!)

You say that 5 years of free poems are included. What happens then?
It’s important to me that there are no subscription fees and also that this project is economically sustainable.
To achieve this, I’m putting aside a % of the product price to pay for AI and server costs. That will provide for fresh poems, every minute, every day for 5 years. Now, that’s based on today’s costs…
My hope is that AI costs will drop sufficiently in the future that this can be extended indefinitely. (The servers are cheap in comparison, so no concerns there.)
However, I also have a backup plan. I already store many of the composed poems in a database, and after 5 years (only if AI is too expensive) the system can start “recycling” them. It’s unlikely that I or any other Poem/1 owner would notice the repeats, but I wouldn’t want to do that now as it removes some of the fun!

I don't like the cable coming out of the side...
This was an issue during the campaign, because some backers didn’t like the way the USB power cable always came out of the side of the clock.
This design decision changed during development! The USB-C port is now hidden in a recess in the back of the clock, and the cable can run through various cable gullies. These include the original direct to the side, and now also down (for wall mounting) and to the back.
The charging cable is a standard USB-C cable! So if you have a longer cable, or a different style, that will work too.
And if you’re one of the people who is hoping to hang Poem/1 on your wall, we got ya.

The time is wrong occasionally? How occasionally is occasionally??
When I made my first AI clock prototype, it made me laugh so much that it would sometimes “hallucinate” the time to get a rhyme to work.
But while that’s funny from time to time, it’s not something you would want to happen too frequently!
Happily, I’ve been successful at reducing hallucinations over the months.
Technically, the prompt to the AI now includes a “validation” step where the poem is checked for accuracy. Now, because it’s AI, which doesn’t always follow instructions, sometimes other “hallucinations” occur. For example, that moment in the campaign video where Poem/1 makes up a whole word…
Hallucinations are now rare. They still happen from time to time, and to reduce them further makes the poems less creative. So I think I’ve found a good balance.
In short, the clock is wrong just frequently enough to be interesting, like all of us lol

I'd like to get 2 clocks! How can I do that?
Thank you! I’ve had this request from a few people.
- Backing for the first time: Select the “Single pack” reward, then select the “Additional Poem/1 – AI clock” add-on
- If you’ve already backed: Edit your existing reward, then select the “Additional Poem/1 – AI clock” add-on
Your additional Poem/1 includes a small discount to say thank you :-)
Just like the main reward, shipping is additional and will be charged just before dispatch time. We’ll work to minimise import taxes but you may also have these (we’re covering VAT for the UK).
p.s. if you can’t see how to edit your pledge, Kickstarter has a help document here:
https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005126814-How-can-I-change-my-pledge-amount-or-reward-selection
*You have to re-confirm your pledge before you see Add-Ons!**

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
